My name is Chris Stowe, I’m a 28-year-old
American man, and I would appreciate your full consideration for an English instructor’s
position. Most recently I have taught after hours Conversational English
classes at Dong-A University, but would like to teach part-time in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Seoul</st1:place></st1:city>.

My academic background is strong. I
attended the highly regarded <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype>
 of <st1:placename w:st="on">Michigan</st1:placename></st1:place>, where I
studied Communications Studies and Latin American History.  I have two years of experience teaching in <st1:country-region w:st="on">Korea</st1:country-region> at two hagwons and a university, as well
as six months working in a language college in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Melbourne</st1:city>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">Australia</st1:country-region></st1:place>.
Here I taught adult students from <st1:country-region w:st="on">China</st1:country-region>,
<st1:country-region w:st="on">Japan</st1:country-region>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">Vietnam</st1:country-region>, <st1:city w:st="on">Columbia</st1:city>,
<st1:country-region w:st="on">Saudi Arabia</st1:country-region>, and <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Kuwait</st1:place></st1:country-region> in a
daily 4 hour intensive multilingual class. To have success in an intensive
class like this, I had to be well prepared and develop strong techniques for
teaching English in a diverse, multilingual classroom.

Additionally, in July 2009 I
completed the CELTA course. This course is taught by <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Cambridge</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype></st1:place>
and is more highly regarded throughout the world than the TESOL.

My classroom experience includes
instructing students from all levels of ability. I really enjoy teaching, so my
style is flexible and helps me build comfortable relationships with my
students; oftentimes I stay after classes to help students who are having
difficulties. During my time at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Melbourne</st1:placename>
 <st1:placename w:st="on">Language</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Center</st1:placetype></st1:place>,
I instructed an auxiliary pronunciation class biweekly. Here, we targeted
troublesome phonetic sounds and practiced their proper pronunciation, spelling,
and improved students’ listening ability. I recognize the importance of
accurate pronunciation and I am adept at improving it in my students.

Additionally, I have experience
teaching two different one on one ibt TOEFL students and one IELTS student. In
2009, after scoring highly on his English entrance examination, one of these
three students was enrolled in the prestigious <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Haeundae</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">High School</st1:placetype></st1:place>.

In my free time I enjoy studying
Korean and have gained a perspective of the English language as it relates to
other languages; I also took the Foreigner’s Intensive Korean Class at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Pukyeong</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype></st1:place> in spring 2010. My Korean studies
have helped me understand the mutual difficulties that my students are
experiencing and it helps me relate to them. As a teacher, I demand hard work
from my students, but I’m sympathetic to the challenges they face.

I have a professional attitude, a friendly
personality, and a lot of diverse teaching experience, so I’m certain that you
