Delving into Pedagogy     Teaching has been a passion that I have been cultivating for a few years. My growth and development as a teacher are of the utmost importance, therefore, I have spent the bulk of my collegiate education enhancing my skills. My relevant experience at a Community College, where I assisted in the implementation of a retention program for at Risk College students instilled in me the core values of passion and compassion for all students. In addition, I worked with middle school students in the subjects of English, Math and Science, while attending University. Upon completion of my undergraduate degree, I also tutored and was a substitute teacher for LAUSD.  Moreover, I have spent the last ten months in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Korea</st1:place></st1:country-region> working as an English Instructor at a private school. The students range in the ages of 8yrs to 15yrs and are instructed in fundamentals of the English language.      It has been my observation that the creative aspect of teaching is the most exciting part of being an educator. As an ambitious teacher, I possess the ability to reflect and question my effectiveness in the classroom and make the necessary changes so that my students are constantly motivated.  To that effect, I enjoy using creative methods when teaching my courses. They have proven to be successful and have confirmed the importance of having both the students and teacher involved in the learning process. My classroom experience has taught me the significance of working with my students to foster an environment that is conducive to their learning rather than allowing them to get discouraged and distracted.     Being in Korea has given me the opportunity to refine my personal approach towards teaching. By teaching the essentials of vocabulary and grammar, I am empowering my students to apply the necessary skills for critical thinking. Though the process is still in its infancy, I have seen enough potential and growth from my students to know that it is a worthwhile endeavor. My skills as an ESL teacher are being polished and it is a rewarding experience in more ways than one .I am look forward to spending more time in Korea, where I have the opportunity to grow as an individual and as an educator. I appreciate your noting my experiences and goals regarding teaching, and I hope to hear from you soon.
