Dear Future Employer,<o:p></o:p> 
     I am excited to seek a position as an English instructor. As an alumni of UC Davis, I became very interested in teaching English in Korea. Korea has a great appeal to me because I believe employers’ objective is to hire passionate and professional teachers. I believe in choosing a long term-development over short-term fixes, because I strongly believe in that value. I believe in creating real bonds with students, staff, and parents as well as keeping integrity in being a teacher. Through these objectives, I feel confident as a teacher to reach each student’s potential as well as closing the achievement gaps amongst students.<o:p></o:p> 
     My teaching experience has provided me to work with students from a variety of backgrounds. In my student teaching at Best Friends Learning Center, I worked with children ages 3-7. They were from diverse backgrounds both linguistically and culturally. In our class, some students were from out of the country, and we worked with them to reach a proficient academic level through assisted instruction, reading activities, and explicit phonics instruction. I consider myself a lifelong learner myself, and I consistently collect data from my teaching experiences. I reflect and create new ways of assisting better achievement in my students by both research and by asking my peers’ opinions. <o:p></o:p> 
     In my current classroom in Best Friends Learning Center, I work with 42 children. I work with them both as a whole and separately in four different groups (separated by skill level). The classroom I work with is an integrated classroom that combines pre-school students with kindergarten students. Our aim is to get each individual student an opportunity to reach their fullest potential by tailoring to their educational needs according to their skill level. Through experience I have gained the ability to quickly modify lessons and to assess each child in order to accommodate their learning needs. An example of this is a spelling unit I created. The group I work with is asked to spell ten sight words phonetically without reviewing them beforehand. We then as a class go over how to spell each word. If there are any homonyms, we go over them as well. The students are asked to write down any words they missed five times. I then give an oral assessment with each child to determine whether or not they fully understand the meaning and spelling of each word. This enables the child to have fuller comprehension of the words as well as the ability to determine homonyms to prevent future misspellings. <o:p></o:p>
